Current research predicts that 1/9 of us will develop dementia and there are over 6 million people currently living with this progressive disorder without a cure.
Scientists also believe brain changes that lead to dementia are occurring 20-30 years before the disease is diagnosed.
Problem #1 - no early detection of subtle cognitive changes that are reversible. Alabama leads the nation in people being diagnosed with dementia under the age of 64. Traditional services for people living with dementia are designed for the elderly, and are limited in scope and largely focused on care partner support. Once diagnosed, people can live 20+ years. Problem #2 - those living with dementia need
to know how to maximize their abilities today, build cognitive reserve for tomorrow and know how to prepare for their future.
We have designed Cogni-Thrive to be the answer to both problems. It is an all-in- one platform for all brain functioning needs, regardless of geography and circumstance.
Our backgrounds as speech pathologists, dementia practitioners, business owners and care partners have uniquely positioned us to not only have direct insights into what life is like with dementia, but also gain insights into how resilient our brains can be with the appropriate coaching. Over the past 4 years, we have developed programs for clients with cognitive impairments, programs that have led to effectively slowing down the disease process and even improved cognitive scores in many others. We have developed the Cogni-Thrive program using these same programs. Cogni-Thrive is designed to provide our clients with the means to identify subtle cognitive changes and rebuild resiliency through personalized programs for body and brain health, as well as nutrition and mental wellness.
Yes, combining mental and physical exercise can improve cognitive function. In fact, some studies suggest that doing both simultaneously can be even more beneficial than doing either one alone
Brain activity
Muscle cells may release chemical signals during exercise that stimulate brain activity.
Structural changes
Physical exercise can cause structural and functional changes in the brain that can improve cognitive functioning.
